We are excited to share an important update regarding our school district's technology systems. To provide a more streamlined experience for our families, we will be transitioning to a new Student Information System (SIS) and communications platform: Focus School Software.
A Student Information System (SIS) is a specialized software platform used by school districts to collect, manage, and organize all data related to students. This includes enrollment status, attendance, schedules, and grades, providing a centralized system for educators, administrators, and parents.
Here is what this means for you:
What is changing?
Student Information System: We are moving from Aeries Parent Portal to Focus School Software.
Communications Platform: We are changing from ParentSquare to Focus Communications.
The Benefit: This transition will give parents one single app for accessing all necessary student information and school-to-home communications.
Timeline for Parents
The change will officially take place for parents in July 2026.
Leading up to this, we will be sending introductory information about Focus to all families beginning in April 2026.
In May and June 2026, we will begin encouraging families to download the AVUSD Focus App.
Instructions for creating your Focus account will be sent out in July 2026.
Support and Resources
We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for all of our families.
Guides: Guides for the AVUSD Focus App will be available to help you navigate the system.
Support: You can receive support from your school's office staff or your local Family Center. If your issue is beyond their knowledge, they will contact the AVUSD Help Desk for you.
