Two Phoenix Academy students represent AVUSD at the California History Day Competition.
Ivette Munoz and Laura Ramos’ history project, “Mahatma
Ghandi: Anti-War
Activist”, was just one of 39 projects that won championships at the 26th Annual San Bernardino County History Day awards ceremony, in March. The two Phoenix Academy students advanced to the California History Day competition, held May 6-7 in Rocklin, Calif., and attended with their history teacher, Chrystal Anderson.

"They represented the district and Phoenix Academy in true character counts fashion," Anderson said. "They were extremely respectful, took responsibility for setting up and taking down their display, they acted fairly, admiring others' workmanship, they took care of their families by making sure they were informed of any changes and were warm in the cooler climate.  It was a pleasure to watch our students show what you can achieve when you put in the time and effort." Great work, girls!
