The AVUSD Board of Trustees have appointed Marcos Clark as principal of Yucca Loma Elementary School, effective July 1, 2017. Clark currently serves as the Site Student Program and Assessment Coordinator at Mariana Academy and will be taking over for Yucca Loma’s current principal Rey Rodriguez, who will be retiring at the end of the school year.

Clark expressed his excitement and his hopes to continue and build upon Yucca Loma’s history of community and tradition. “Our Family Center has done so much to bring in so much of the community and provide outside resources and I really want to continue this with the entire school. I really want to connect our families with the community that already exists at Yucca Loma with the teachers and students, and continue to foster an open line of communication between everyone,” he said.

“If families ever have a concern, I want them to know that they can come and see me,” Clark added. “I’m here to serve the families and the students. I’m committed to doing what is best for the kids and make sure that all of our students are getting the best education possible.”

“One of the things that I really like about Yucca Loma is that there is a very dedicated staff that is willing to do whatever is best for the students,” Clark said.

Marcos Clark first came to Apple Valley Unified in 2014 as a teacher at Yucca Loma Elementary School. Before this, Clark worked as a church children’s ministry director and as a teacher with Victor Elementary School District and a school district in Wyoming. He received his bachelor’s degree and his teaching credential at California State University San Bernardino and has since gone on to postgraduate training at Liberty University and CSU San Bernardino.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Clark to Yucca Loma and recognizing Mr. Rodriguez for his years of service to the students, staff, and families of our district.
