Granite Hills High School’s Annual Performing Arts Festival was held on Oct. 25 and 27, and exposed hundreds of elementary and middle school students to the performing arts. During the 90-minute festival, Granite Hills’ drama department, vocal ensembles and band each performed. The event was offered as a free opportunity to classes and groups within Apple Valley Unified School District. “I got my start in the arts many moons ago by attending something very similar to this as an elementary school student,” Shane Churchill, Performing Arts Director, said. “The arts encourage creative thought, spur the imagination, teach self-discipline, motivation, and promote tolerance and understanding of others."
