On Wednesday, September 21, two new officers were sworn in as official Police Officers with the Apple Valley School District Police Department. New officers Max McNeeley and Michael Lomeli were joined by officials from AVUSD and the Upland Police Department, in which McNeeley previously served.
“I am excited that we have new officers sworn in to protect and serve our students, staff and community,” Cesar Molina, Chief of Police, said. “I was glad to see the AVUSD top ranking officials a part of the swearing ceremony. Their presence made it more special.”
“Michael's heart is in the right place to protect and serve our students, staff and community. He is an American hero in my book and I am honored to have him protecting and serving the Apple Valley Unified School District and the Apple Valley Community,” Molina said.
“Max is a great addition just like all of our officers. He has a great personality that any person would appreciate. Max will be a fine mentor for our youths,” Molina said.
Both Lomeli and McNeeley started as Police Explorers while attending high school. Since graduation, Lomeli served in the United States Marines and McNeeley served with the Upland Police Department. Both graduated from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Academy.
