Schreiner entered the two-day “California’s Best” competition, which tests each participant’s proficiency and technical knowledge through a written exam and a hands-on exam. The purpose of the competition was to provide an opportunity to recognize the significant role that mechanics play in school bus safety.
“When the results came in, and it was announced that he had won, I was beside myself with excitement and pride,” Sandy Dillman, AVUSD Director of Transportation, said.
This fall, both Schreiner and Dillman will attend the National Association for Pupil Transportation’s Annual Summit to represent AVUSD and the state of California. The summit will take place Nov. 4-8 in Kansas City, Mo. and will be attended by mechanics from across the United States and British Colombia.
